Terms of Service

Last updated: November 6, 2026

These terms cover your use of the Scrappie iPhone app and this website. Scrappie is run by Jialang Zhao. By using Scrappie, you agree to them.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scrappie. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should review these terms with a parent or legal guardian.

What Scrappie does

Scrappie uses an AI model to edit the photos you choose and keeps your edits in My Scrapbook. There are no settings to adjust and no style to pick, so Scrappie decides how each edit looks. Results vary. An edit can change lighting, color, scenery, background and composition. It aims to keep people looking like themselves, but it can’t promise to, so an edited photo is not a record of what really happened. Look over your results before you share them.

Your photos

Your photos and edits stay yours. You give us permission to store them, process them and send them to OpenAI, only so that we can run Scrappie for you. That permission ends when you delete them, apart from what OpenAI retains as our Privacy Policy describes. You are responsible for having the right to use the photos you upload, including any rights of the people in them.

Fair use

Don’t use Scrappie to break the law, to harm or harass anyone, to make sexual images of a person without their consent or of anyone under 18, to impersonate or deceive people, or to try to break or overload the service. Our editing provider’s safety systems may refuse an edit, and a refused edit costs no ticket. We may refuse requests, restrict access, or suspend or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security risks, or serious violations of these terms, subject to applicable law.

Tickets

One ticket is consumed for each successfully generated edited photo, and unsuccessful edits do not permanently consume a ticket.

Tickets are digital consumables, have no cash value, and cannot be redeemed for cash. Scrappie does not impose an inactivity-based expiration date on unused tickets while the service remains available and the account remains active. Account deletion and service discontinuation are addressed separately in these terms.

  • Try Another Edit makes a new photo and uses one more ticket.
  • Having The Scrap Pile review your photos is free. Editing the ones you confirm uses one ticket each.
  • A ticket is set aside when you ask for an edit. If the edit fails, the ticket comes back.
  • Tickets you buy are one-time purchases, not a subscription.
  • This website shows prices in US dollars. The price you pay is the one the App Store shows you.

Purchases and refunds

Tickets are sold through the App Store, and Apple takes the payment. Refund requests go to Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com. When Apple refunds a purchase, we take that purchase’s number of tickets off your balance, stopping at zero, and this can include tickets you got another way. Tickets you have already used stay used.

Tickets don’t come back through the usual iOS restore, because they are used up as you spend them. Restore Purchases in the app checks your device’s purchase history and adds the tickets for any purchase that was never counted.

Your account and getting tickets back

The app creates an anonymous account for you. Tickets live on that account, not on your device. To keep them safe, link Sign in with Apple. It is optional, and signing in with the same Apple ID on a new device brings your tickets across.

If you never linked Apple and you lose your device, your tickets can’t be recovered automatically. Write to us with your purchase receipt and we will try to restore them by hand, as the Support page explains, but we can’t promise it.

If you delete your account, your photos and any remaining tickets are gone, and that can’t be undone.

Availability

Scrappie depends on our servers, on Apple and on our editing provider, and any of them can have problems. We may change or stop features.

If we decide to discontinue Scrappie, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice where practical and explain how the discontinuation affects existing accounts and unused tickets. Requests involving unused purchased tickets will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer-protection law and Apple’s App Store refund procedures. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

Warranty and liability

Scrappie is provided on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis to the extent permitted by applicable law. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or any particular editing result. Keep backup copies of important photographs.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Scrappie and its operator are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use or unavailability of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Apple

These terms are between you and Jialang Zhao, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Scrappie or for supporting it, and your use of the app also has to follow the App Store’s rules.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of California (provisional).

Changes and questions

If these terms change, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. Questions go to support@scrappie.io.
